Ice cream instead of bedtime

Some nights, I can tell bedtime is going to be a struggle hours before we settle into our routine. On nights like that, I take Noah out for ice cream and a little one-on-one time with me. Tonight he chose a chocolate and sprinkle cone instead of ice cream. We spent the time laughing and chatting. He fell asleep talking to me about how much fun he had.

Noah thinks these nights are just for him, but I treasure the one-on-one time just as much as he does.

I've never once looked across the table at my smiling, chatting toddler & thought, "Man, I regret the fun we're having."
